The Salisbury Police Department, in collaboration with multiple Wicomico County law enforcement agencies, has launched a cash reward program to combat illegal dirt bike and ATV activity in the region.
This initiative, supported by the Fruitland, Delmar, and Pittsville police departments, Maryland State Police, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and the State’s Attorney’s Office, offers monetary rewards for information leading to the confiscation of unregistered or unlawfully operated off-road vehicles.
Maryland law prohibits operating dirt bikes and ATVs on public roads without proper registration. Violators risk citations and vehicle seizures, according to the mayor’s office. Authorities stress that illegal off-road riding poses significant risks to both riders and pedestrians, increasing the chances of accidents, injuries, and fatal incidents.
To assist in the crackdown, Wicomico County residents are urged to report locations where illegal dirt bikes or ATVs are being stored. Tips can be submitted by calling 443-359-3546.
